READ TO ACHIEVE
Excellent Public Schools Act
Read to Achieve is a part of the Excellent Public Schools Act which became law in 2012 and took effect starting in the fall of 2013. The goal of the law is for every child to read at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
Grade Level Benchmarks
BOG Beginning of Grade Test & MClass TRC (Level P)
If your child does not pass the BOG (Beginning of Grade ) Test and is not currently reading on Grade level based on MClass TRC (Text Reading Comprehension - Level P) your child will be identified as a Read to Achieve Student. Your child will be provided with additional reading support throughout the year to help them meet grade level reading proficiency.
Their progress will be monitored by MClass data and their performance on standards based reading passages. These passages will become part of their reading portfolio.
